Cistus (Rose of Sharon) Essential Oil

Cistus is also known as “rock rose” or “rose of sharon” and has been studied for its effects on the regeneration of cells.

Please be aware that this is the essential oil steam distilled from the leaves and stalk of the plant.  The more florally fragrant oil, solvent extracted from the flowers, is the Cistus Absolute version.

This oil is antiviral, antibacterial, antihemorrhagic, anti-inflammatory, supports the sympathetic nervous system and is an immune stimulant.

It is used for hemorrhages and arthritis among other things. The fragrance is calming to the nerves and elevates the emotions. A biblical oil. Apply on location and reflexology points, directly inhale or diffuse.

Cistus Absolute, Spain, has a strong long-lasting warm and sweet ambra-like aroma. The spicy-animal notes are attractive in oriental perfume bases.

Medical Properties: Anti-infectious, Antiviral, Antibacterial, Antihemorrhagic, Anti-inflammatory, supports sympathetic nervous system, and is an immune stimulant.

Traditional Uses: Shepherds in Biblical times frequently used Rose of Sharon for cuts and wounds.

Other Uses: Bronchitis, respiratory infections, coughs, rhinitis, urinary tract infections, wounds and wrinkles. It also may help with hemorrhages, arthritis, and is known for elevating the emotions and is calming to the nerves. It helps reduce inflammation and is an neurotonic for the sympathetic nervous system.

Application: Diffuse, directly inhale, or apply 2 to 4 drops on location.

USES FOR CISTUS/ROSE OF SHARON

1. For arthritis, apply 1-2 drops of Rose of Sharon to affected area.

2. Diffuse Rose of Sharon essential oil or apply to the soles of your feet for autoimmune challenges.

3. Apply neat or diluted with carrier oil for inflammation.

4. Stuffy nose? Try rubbing a drop or two of Rose of Sharon oil on hands, cup over nose and inhale deeply.

5. Mix Rose of Sharon with olive oil and apply to the face for wrinkles.

6. Apply 4 to 5 drops of Rose of Sharon oil to the spine to help with infection.

7. For bronchitis, dilute several drops of Cistus (Rose of Sharon) essential oil with carrier oil and apply to the chest area.

8. To help strengthen and support the immune system, apply 2-3 drops to the soles of your feet daily.
